Plan Mode

Explore first, then execute with your approval.

What is Plan Mode?

Plan Mode lets the agent explore your app and build a structured test plan before making any changes. While Plan Mode is active, the agent can only observe - it won't create or modify any files.

Once the agent has explored enough, it presents a plan with clear steps for your review. You approve or reject. On approval, the agent proceeds to execute the plan.

How it works

1

Enable Plan Mode

Toggle Plan Mode on in the agent config panel before sending your message.

2

Agent explores

The agent navigates your app, reads pages, clicks around, and gathers information. It can browse freely but won't create or modify any files.

3

Plan is presented

The agent presents a structured plan with numbered steps. Each step describes what it will do and what it expects to happen.

4

You approve or reject

Click Approve and the agent executes the plan. Click Reject to tell the agent what to change - it will revise and present a new plan.

When to use Plan Mode

  • You're not sure what to test and want the agent to explore first
  • The app is complex and you want to review the approach before execution
  • You want to generate a comprehensive test plan for a feature area
  • You're onboarding to a new codebase and want the agent to map it out

When to skip it

For straightforward tasks where you already know exactly what to test, Plan Mode adds unnecessary overhead. If you can describe the steps clearly, just send them directly.

Plan Mode is best for open-ended requests like "test this app" or "find bugs in the checkout flow". For specific tasks like "test the login with invalid credentials", skip it.
